POSITION SUMMARY:
BCBAs will provide direct ABA therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Developmental Disabilities and Supervision to RBTs and behavior technicians in-home, clinic, and school settings. A BCBA consults, conducts behavioral evaluations of clients and designs behavior and individual support plans for clients. The BCBA is required to adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Guidelines for Responsible Conduct for Behavior Analysts.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Must possess BCBA/LBA or obtain BCBA/LBA within specified time of hire date
2. Applies behavioral principles consistently in all client interactions.
3. Supports all members of the staff and assists with ideas, suggestions, and work duties.
4. Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding child’s progress and plan of care.
5. Complete weekly parent trainings as outlines by insurance
6. Conducts supervision weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
7. Gather, perform, record, and evaluate initial evaluations to determine factors influencing the child’s behavior
8. Actively participates in staff training programs designed to increase overall skills
9. Prepare and conduct Staff Performance Reviews
10. Develops program plans and other instructional activities as well as running programs weekly to ensure mastery and gather inter-rater reliability data
11. Formulate treatment plans for each child that incorporate proven evidence-based strategies that will help achieve the target behavior
12. Writes progress reports and other requested written assignments to the client’s progress
13. Communicates in a professional and respectful manner with parents, behavior analyst/consultants, therapists, clients, and families.
14. Assists in creating instructional materials, running programs, taking data and assessing clients in the development of new programs relating to the client’s functional and educational needs.
15. Observes records and reports the condition and behavior of the clients, including maintaining daily records
16. Functions as an active member of the treatment team meetings and supervision
17. Works with clients, consultants, staff, families, and community to implement client’s treatment plans
18. Consistently implements behavior plants to reduce client’s socially inappropriate behavior and promote appropriate social behaviors
19. Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations which may include client physical aggression.
20. Completes daily paperwork and data collection notes in a detailed, accurate, consistent, and timely manner.
21. Adhere to the rules, regulations, policies, and processes outlined in the San Angelo Autism Center policy and procedures
22. Protect patient rights and privacy according to HIPAA regulations, and San Angelo Autism Center policy and procedures
23. Adhere to Ethical Guidelines set forth by the BACB
24. Provide a safe and clean environment for all patients and staff
25. Ensure the patient receives quality services from provider
26. Represent the patient to ensure services and interventions meet quality assurance standards
27. Maintain accurate records including but not limited to assessments, current daily notes, and services provided for statistical and billing purposes
28. Enforce the Code of Ethics governed by the BACB and San Angelo Autism Center policy and procedures
29. Assist with problem solving to improve efficiency within the clinic
30. Portray a positive attitude and maintain a patient and co-worker satisfaction level that limits adverse situations or complaints
31. Excellent attitude and ability to work well within a team
32. Ability to organize and act on multiple activities concurrently, as required by client treatment plans
33. Generate team spirit through creating and maintaining an environment that fosters staff satisfaction, maximizes productivity and profitability
34. Attend special education programs and in-service trainings, related to ABA therapy for staff and the community upon request
35. Coach parents on techniques, treatment reinforcement, and carryover home activities
36. Recommend the necessary resources for additional treatment or care

EDUCATION:
1. Masters in ABA, Education, Psychology
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certification as a BCBA
2. Maintenance of BCBA certification, as well as certifications and any trainings provided (e.g., crisis training, CPR and First Aid, etc.)
3. Valid Medicaid Provider Number
4. Must be licensed with the state of Texas as an LBA
Skills/Abilities: Includes, but is not limited to:
1. Telephone
2. Computer: knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, or ability to learn them independently
3. Copy Machine
4. Calculator
5. Fax Machine
BASIC AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
2. Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
3. Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
4. Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
5. Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior.
6. Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
7. Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include center, home, and community placements.
8. Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
9. Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
RELATED TRAINING:
Responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings once employed including, but not limited to: CPR/First Aid, Fingerprinting & Background Checks, and other company in-services and trainings as directed by employment supervisor.
PREFERRED:
· Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with ASD or other developmental disabilities.
· Fluent in understanding various assessment tools such as VB-MAPP, ABLLS, and AFLLS.
